So it seemed like I needed a traget for 2024. I had been told about a bigger ride than the Fred Whitton, the Dragon Ride.
So I had a think about it and thought why do I not have stab at the long version, aptly named the Dragon Devil. So it is quite a bit longer than the Fred and a fair bit more total climbing as you would expect. So it is 183 miles (296km) with 15138 feet (4614m) of climbing all to be completed on Sunday 23rd June 2024.
As the Dragon website states, this is not for the faint-hearted, and is truly a bucket list achievement! You take on the following climbs:
Sardis Hill (3/10)
Glynneath Hill (6/10)
Black Mountain (7/10)
Sugar Loaf Hill (5/10)
Devils Staircase (10/10)
Bwlych Cerrig Duon (5/10)
Bwlych Bryn-Rhudd (5/10)
Devils Elbow (8/10)
Rhigos (6/10)
The Bwlch (7/10)
So the next 40 weeks will need to be planned ccarefully to makes sure that I arrive at the start of the ride in the best possible condition to take on the challenge.
