The sort of offer you can't refuse!

So, I got home from work, checked the old emails. lots of the usual junk and spam etc. but one caught my eye. It was from the Fred Whitton Challenge. I always read these sorts of mails, but I was just expecting it to be some announcements about dates for 2024. I was not expecting the email to say that I had a guaranteed place for 2024, and it was heavily discounted as well. Yes, I know have signed up for the Dragon Devil Ride. I am aware that I had said to myself that I may leave the Fred for a year or so. Well, I guess you have worked out what happened, yes that is correct I have signed up for the Fred Whitton as part of my training for the Dragon Ride Devil ride. Most sensible people will sign up for one of these types of rides per year, not do one 6 weeks before the bigger ride.

Well let’s see if the schedule I have signed up for does what I am hoping it to do. Each ride is a goal to help the preparation for completion of the Dragon Ride. Then I will ride the Ride for Ryder 2 weeks after the Dragon Devil.

The 2024 line up so far

16 March 2024 Wiltshire Classic - 73 Miles with 3,635ft of climbing.

21 April 2024 White Horse Challenge - 90 Miles with 4,721ft of climbing.

27 April 2024 Somerset Sportive - 103 miles with 4,170ft of climbing.

12 May 2024 Fred Whitton Challenge 2024 - 112 miles with 11,781ft of climbing.

23 June 2024 Dragon Ride - Dragon Devil - 185.6miles with 15,138ft of climbing.

07 July 2024 Ride for Ryder - 100 miles with 6,278ft of climbing.

So, a total of 664 miles of riding and 45,723 feet of climbing simply in the events I have planned to date. So I am either a total headcase or just simply willing to challenge myself where possible. I guess we shall see.

Drop by for more updates soon.
