Rhythm is the dancer!

I wish that was the case, sadly the only thing that does not seem to have rhtythm is my heart. The correct term is atrial fibrillation, (AF) is a common abnormal heart rhythm or arrhythmia. It causes your heart to beat abnormally, which might feel like your heart is fluttering. If you want to get all technical then please check out the following link:

It will explian things in considerably more correct medical terms. Below is what it looks like for me. This is a new toy a 2 wire ECG which allows me to check on myself and see how it is beating.

To most of us it simply means that I have to take it easy on the bike. An when I say easy I mean really easy. This does explain why I have been seeing my HRM reading an avergae of 200bpm on rides recently. So does this mean I have to stop ridingm, no I can ride just not as hard as I have in the past for now. If my HR goes up then I am to stop and take a rest and allow it to drop. This is where the challenge lays. My legs want to push the pedals at the normal cadence with the nromal amount of power. however instead of my HR sitting at aroung 135 -140bpm at a nice steady speed, it is now creeping past the 200bpm.

So the big issue for me is that it is looking most likely that all the big rides are not going to be a possibility this year and I am in the process of seeing how to defer entry. So fingers crossed I can get this checked out fully and then I will know what the longer term cycling and trainign can look like.

Stay tuned for more updates as they come to light.
