And so the journey continues...

One of the bonuses from taking on this challenge is the fact that I have motivated myself to get fitter. I started serious training last month once I managed to get things back on track after the pre-Christmas issues and then set up a training area in the garage.

I was fortunate to be discussing training methods with a very good friend and he suggest that I try The Sufferfest: Complete Training for Cyclists and Triathletes. I have to take my hat off to David Brown as he was 100% correct in the fact that this system works for me.

The other thing that helps track all of this is TrainingPeaks which has my training plan stored in there and then I can tweak it and make sure it fits around everything else that is going on in my life. I have also managed to add in some of the other things I am doing to the plan as my training for that session.

I took the first fitness assessment in February and scored OK. (For a better understanding of the 4DP areas see the summary below). Well I thought it would be a great idea to take the second 4DP this morning and I got up at 05:30am to then jump on the bike and do the test before I went on a club ride with Darkroom Espresso Cycling Club for the Sunday Social to Fairford. (Oh by the way the Lynwood & Co in Fairford is a great place for a coffee and cake stop. Those Flap Jacks are amazing).

So as you can see I have moved along quite considerably. I am very happy with the progress and looking forward to seeing how the results continue to change and then at what point to I start to plateau.

So that is this weeks summary and I hope you have all enjoyed reading it as much as I have doing it and writing the posts.

Stay tuned for future updates and don't forget that you can help get this target achieved by visiting the page.
